Grove Lodge at Mohonk Mountain House
New Paltz, New York
The Grove Lodge at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY was designed by AJA Architecture and Planning as the first new lodging building at the historic resort since the turn of the century.
The 8,000-square-foot, two-story Grove Lodge incorporates the use of native stone and natural finishes to help the structure blend into the scenic landscape of the Mohonk Mountain House property.
Interior spaces include hardwood floors and the use of exposed wood throughout. The guest suites have their own separate drive-up entrances and feature patios and balconies. All areas are appointed with rustic rocking chairs for outdoor seating.
Sustainable features include low-carbon building materials, LED lighting, and a geothermal heating and cooling system. 250 tons of Shawangunk conglomerate excavated from the site have been recycled into the retaining walls of the Lodge and the main stone fireplace in the Great Room.
